The Newman Medical ABI-500CL ABI System is a PC-based ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing solution designed to quickly and easily evaluate lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Built for efficiency and ease of use, this system streamlines vascular testing while producing clear, professional reports suitable for documentation and reimbursement.

The ABI-500CL features the Cuff-Link™ main control unit, which integrates the 8-port cuff selector, pressure sensors, pump, interchangeable Doppler probes, and control software. The included Cuff-Link remote allows the operator to step through each stage of the exam with the push of a button, improving workflow and minimizing exam time. A large, easy-to-read display shows real-time cuff pressure, while push-button inflation and automated cuff deflation help ensure accurate pressure measurements.

The system includes powerful yet intuitive software designed to simplify exam documentation and reporting. Automatic index calculations eliminate manual calculations, saving time and reducing potential errors. Each exam can be stored with a timestamp, and reports can be customized with your facility’s logo and information. The software also supports editable drop-down menus, ICD-10 codes, suggested CPT codes, and interpretation assistance. Reports can be saved in multiple formats including PDF, TIFF, CSV, BMP, and JPG.

The ABI-500CL supports several exam types to help identify and evaluate vascular obstruction:

• Single-level ABI exams for detecting peripheral arterial disease (CPT 93922) using Doppler or PPG pressure sensors

• Segmental limb exams to determine the level of arterial obstruction (CPT 93923)

• Multi-level segmental exams with PVR, providing faster testing that is more comfortable for the patient while still delivering detailed diagnostic information

The Cuff-Link unit includes a high-sensitivity built-in Doppler with interchangeable probes, allowing clinicians to clearly hear blood flow signals during testing. A unique magnetic probe holder securely cradles the probe when not in use, helping prevent damage. The integrated high-fidelity speaker delivers clear, rich Doppler sound across a wide frequency range.

An 8 MHz vascular probe with a smooth, ergonomic contour is included for comfortable and reliable use during exams. The system also comes with a complete set of specialized vascular cuffs that are soft, washable, and long enough to fully wrap the limb for accurate measurements.
